Ark Vivah is a Vedic astrological remedy primarily intended to neutralize the negative effects of Manglik Dosha (Mars Dosha) in a horoscope. It is performed to prevent marriage delays, ensure a stable and harmonious married life, and protect the spouse from the malefic influences associated with planetary placements.
How the Ritual Works
In this Hindu tradition, the individual symbolically marries the Ark (or Aak / Mandar) tree or plant before getting married to a human. Because the plant is nonliving, this symbolic union is considered their “first marriage,” effectively absorbing any dosha and clearing the path for a prosperous marriage with their real partner.
Where to Perform
While the ritual can be conducted at various holy sites across India, it is highly recommended to perform it at sacred locations known for performing Vedic Shanti pujas, such as:
- Varanasi
- Ujjain (famous for Lord Mahakaleshwar)
- Trimbakeshwar in Nashik
