Asthi Kalash Visarjan
Asthi Kalash Visarjan (the immersion of a deceased loved one’s ashes in a holy river) is a sacred Hindu rite. Its primary benefits include liberating the departed soul from the cycle of rebirth (Moksha), providing emotional closure to the grieving family, and securing ancestral blessings for the lineage’s prosperity.
The ritual is traditionally recommended to be completed swiftly—ideally within the first few days to a week after cremation—to ensure the soul does not remain earthbound.
